Version Control and Creative Rollback

Overview

Lucit does not maintain a formal version history or snapshot/restore system for creatives or templates. However, the platform provides several practical safeguards and controls that allow operators and advertisers to quickly reverse or roll back any change that causes unintended results.

Rolling Back a Creative (Deactivation)

The most immediate form of rollback in Lucit is deactivating a creative. Every creative in a campaign can be independently toggled on or off.

How Creative States Work

State Description
Active Creative is checked/selected and will play on screens
Pending Creative has a date, time, or data trigger preventing it from running right now
Available Creative is unchecked and will not run until reactivated

Removing a creative from rotation is instant — the creative moves from Active to Available and stops being served to screens immediately.

Steps to Deactivate a Creative

  1. Navigate to Campaigns → {Campaign Name}
  2. On the CREATIVE ITEMS tab, find the creative you want to remove
  3. Click the checkmark icon (✓) next to the creative — it turns into a plus sign (+), indicating the creative is no longer active
  4. The creative moves to the Available section and stops running immediately

Steps to Reactivate

  1. Navigate to the Available section at the bottom of the campaign's creative list
  2. Click the plus icon (+) next to the creative to re-add it to the campaign
  3. The creative becomes Active again immediately

This workflow makes it trivial to "undo" a just-posted creative: simply uncheck it to pull it from rotation while you evaluate or fix the issue.

Bulk Deactivation

To deactivate multiple creatives at once:

  1. Click the empty checkbox next to the Filter... search box to Select All
  2. Or individually check the checkboxes next to specific creatives
  3. Click the DEACTIVATE button in the bulk action bar
  4. All selected creatives are moved to the Available state simultaneously

Template Designer — Undo Functionality

When editing a template in the Template Designer, Lucit provides undo/redo functionality within the active editing session. You can step backwards through changes made during the current session if you make an unintended edit.

Template Protection for Live Creatives

Lucit protects against accidental edits to templates that are actively assigned to running creatives. Templates that are attached to live campaigns have safeguards to prevent changes that would immediately alter what is being shown on screens without a deliberate action.

Recommended workflow for iterating on a live template:

  1. Duplicate the existing template before making significant changes
  2. Make and test edits on the duplicate
  3. Once satisfied, reassign creatives to the updated template
  4. Deactivate the old template version

This ensures the live creative continues running normally while you develop and test a new version.

Default / Fallback Creative

If all creatives in a campaign become ineligible (due to triggers, scheduling, or manual deactivation), Lucit will automatically display a default creative rather than showing nothing on the screen.

  • Account-level default: Set in Settings → Default Fallback Creative
  • Campaign-level default: Set in Campaigns → {Campaign} → {3-Dots Icon} → Settings → Default Creative Item

Anyone with the ability to edit campaigns or accounts can set the default creative. The campaign-level setting takes precedence over the account-level setting.

Setting a backup static creative as your default ensures your screens always have something to show, even if a campaign has been accidentally emptied.

See Data Source Monitoring and Fallback Creatives for more information on fallback behavior.
